"I was walking through a New Westminster park one day and caught sight of a crazy tree perched on top of a pile of dirt with its roots seemingly not able to take in any nutrients, as they ran down the outside of the heap. It inspired me to do this sculpture, showing the tenacity of Mother Nature as she is determined to make things grow under the most adverse conditions."
